Ulhumdhulillah, during the past few decades, Muslims living throughout the United States and especially Chicago, have taken great strides in becoming independent in many aspects of our religious lives, all the while sticking to the guidelines of the Quraan and Sunnah.
In Illinois, through ALLAH’s (swt) Continuous Mercy, we are able to provide the Muslim community an Islaamically approved means and method of burial. A Muslim owned funeral home in the heart of Chicago.
Ulhumdhulillah, we have arrangements with many different facilities (i.e. masaajid, funeral homes, etc) in the Chicago-land area and its suburbs (and across several states and countries) to use as ghusl/washing stations and, thum-ma Ulhumdhulillah, just as many cemeteries with Muslim sections. Our funeral home started the first location for Muslim funerals at MCC Chicago over 16 years ago!
Ulhumdhulillah, we are proud to announce that there are now TWO completely Muslim owned and operated cemeteries in the Suburbs of Chicago: Muslim Ummah Cemetery (MUC) in Homer Glen and American Muslim Cemetery (AMC) in Lynwood. AMC offers the full traditional Islaamic burial with no casket or concrete container required. Similarly, MUC does not use a concrete container but requires a simple wooden tray for the remains. Wooden planks are then positioned at an angle to prevent the soil from coming into direct contact with the body.
As we look to the future, Ulhumdhulillah, the landscape of Muslim burials continues to evolve to meet the growing needs of our community. With the establishment of these two Muslim-owned cemeteries, we feel we have a solid foundation for the upcoming Muslim generations.
