Burial Services

Islamic Burial Services

Burial is the final act of care a community offers the deceased, and in Islam it is approached with simplicity, humility, and reverence. We guide families through every stage of the burial process, in accordance with Islamic principles and Illinois cemetery regulations.

Burial Services with Dignity & Compassion

Islamic tradition calls for burial without embalming or cremation, so the body returns to the earth in as natural a state as possible. We prioritize same-day burial whenever possible, with arrangements typically completed within a day or two, depending on paperwork and cemetery availability. Our team moves quickly to secure a plot, confirm cemetery availability, and coordinate timing with the Janazah so nothing is left to chance during an already difficult time.

  • Coordination with the cemetery of your choice, including THREE Muslim ONLY cemeteries - Muslim Ummah Cemetery (MUC) in Homer Glen, American Muslim Cemetery (AMC) in Lynwood and Allerton Ridge Cemetery in Lombard
  • Transport of the deceased from the masjid to the gravesite following Janazah
  • A simple, dignified graveside process, with the body placed on its right side facing the Qiblah
  • Guidance on casket requirements, which vary by cemetery - some sites permit a simple wooden tray and planks in place of a sealed casket, while others require a casket meeting state and cemetery standards

Not every cemetery accommodates traditional Islamic burial in the same way, which is why we maintain close partnerships with cemeteries throughout Chicagoland - including our own facilities - so families have Islamically appropriate options no matter where they choose to lay their loved one to rest.
